The service explained

How Heat-as-a-Service works

A connected heating operations service that supports comfort, optimisation and EPC compliance.

The hardware

The heating system

The property uses HaaS electric heating panels supported by approved thermostats, sensors, monitoring equipment and cloud-connected controls.

HaaS panels are designed for retrofit properties where conventional wet heating systems are impractical. When combined with the approved control strategy and operated under a Heat-as-a-Service arrangement, the system can support improved EPC outcomes.

Retrofit-first design

No wet system, no major structural work. HaaS installs into existing property layouts with minimal disruption.

The service layer

The operational layer

The service creates an active Heat-as-a-Service arrangement. The system is remotely monitored, optimised and adjusted through the control platform continuously.

  • Heating schedules configured per property
  • Setpoint optimisation for comfort and efficiency
  • Remote diagnostics and fault detection
  • Connectivity monitoring and proactive alerts
  • EPC methodology compliance support
  • Carbon and performance reporting
Occupiers

Simple for occupiers

Occupiers use the approved controls locally within agreed parameters. They keep their existing electricity supplier and continue paying their own electricity bill.

There is no change to the tenancy arrangement for energy supply. The landlord contracts for the Heat-as-a-Service, which continues uninterrupted through tenant changes.

Tenants keep their energy supplier

The service does not include electricity supply. Tenants pay their chosen electricity supplier directly as normal.

Simple local controls

Easy-to-use thermostats within approved operating parameters — no complexity for tenants.

No system involvement needed

Tenants don't manage optimisation — we handle that remotely on the landlord's behalf.

Continuity through tenancies

The service continues uninterrupted when tenants change — no re-activation needed.

Important requirement

Connected controls are essential

The service relies on internet-connected controls. If controls go offline, optimisation may be suspended and EPC treatment linked to the Heat-as-a-Service arrangement may be affected.

Broadband required

The property must maintain standard broadband connectivity to support the monitoring platform.

Offline consequences

Prolonged connectivity loss may suspend the HaaS arrangement and affect EPC treatment status.

Connectivity alerts

We monitor connectivity status and alert landlords if the control system goes offline.
